Wasini Island is surrounded by pristine coral reefs and therefore offers an amazingly beautiful underwater world – ideal for snorkeling or diving.
Besides being one of the best snorkeling and diving areas along Kenya’s coast, the waters around Wasini are home to two species of dolphins: the gregarious bottlenose dolphin and the more elusive humpback dolphin. Both dolphin species can be spotted in the vicinity of Wasini whereby the humpback dolphin is more likely to be seen very close to Wasini’s shore, and the bottlenose dolphin generally a bit more offshore. We also regularly spot sea turtles. On occasions, humpback whales can be seen while on their seasonal migration.
Wasini Dolphin and Snorkeling Tours are offered which include snorkeling or diving in Kisite Mpunguti Marine National Park. You can either join a group or book a private cruise. We are specialized in full day tours including transfer from Mombasa/Diani Beach and delicious Swahili lunch at one of the island restaurants. Please click here for a detailed description of this day tour. If you prefer a private sea safari with more personal care and an itinerary at your own discretion, please have a look at our current offer.
A less pricy Wasini Dolphin and Snorkeling Tour is offered which includes snorkeling or diving in the Wasini Marine Conservation Area. This protected reef area is closer to the island and entrance fees to this community project are considerably lower than those to the National Marine Park. Although you cannot expect to find very large fish specimen in this area, many beautifully colored reef fishes can be spotted here. Dolphin and snorkeling trips to the Marine Conservation Area are usually carried out in smaller dhows and are private cruises without the price tag usually going along with them.
